Lucia at work! This is my favorite artist who shares the same birthday as the artist Basquiat. This picture was taken at the leepa-Rattner Museum of Art in Tarpon Springs, Florida. This Museum has a kids section where they can play and learn about modern art. My daughter Lucia loves to draw and paint and I should say that she is a self taught artist just like her papa. I love you Lulu, keep up the good work!

This is a band from Iceland. This song was used in the soundtrack of Vanilla Sky, a remake of the Spanish Movie Abre los ojos. This is one of my favorite movies because of it’s plot and meaning behind it. The main protagonist of the story is forced to open his eyes, his mind, and his heart to the true meaning of happiness by taking responsibility for the consequences of his actions…

Basquiat “Famous People”

I really like this movie done by Julian Schnabel(Painter,musician and film producer and director). Schnabel was a contemporary artist with Basquiat during the crazy Art boom of the 1980′s. Benicio del Toro who plays “Benny” is a ficticious character that reflects a composite of Al Diaz (graffity Artist) and Vincent Gallo(Musician and Actor/producer/director of “Buffalo 66″). His performance in this movie is excellent and it proves later on why he won an Oscar as a best support Actor.

I liked the dialogue during this scene, which reflects how the Artworld functions and expects from the artists. I myself as an artsist can identified with the pressure of being “unique”. I hope you enjoy this clip and please,feel free to comment.
