I really like this movie done by Julian Schnabel(Painter,musician and film producer and director). Schnabel was a contemporary artist with Basquiat during the crazy Art boom of the 1980′s. Benicio del Toro who plays “Benny” is a ficticious character that reflects a composite of Al Diaz (graffity Artist) and Vincent Gallo(Musician and Actor/producer/director of “Buffalo 66″). His performance in this movie is excellent and it proves later on why he won an Oscar as a best support Actor.
I liked the dialogue during this scene, which reflects how the Artworld functions and expects from the artists. I myself as an artsist can identified with the pressure of being “unique”. I hope you enjoy this clip and please,feel free to comment.
