Since an early age I have always viewed the world in a unique way and expressed that perspective in drawing, sculpture, and painting. Born in Lima, Peru and moved to Caracas, Venezuela at the age of five with my family. I had the privilege to travel to many different countries in South America and eventually moved to the United States at the age of nineteen to continue my pursuit of art. The diverse places where I have lived and my experience adapting to a new culture has had a profound effect on my life and art. My love for art never faded and eventually I went to college to study art.
My paintings are automatic responses incorporating my own distinct experiences and instinctive approach. I like to work with different mediums such as acrylics, oils and mixed media. I use different texture mediums and varnishes to create uncommon surfaces and patterns within my work. I constantly explore new techniques in an effort to create the purest form of self-expression. I like to begin with simple primary colors and let them evolve during the creation of my paintings, to give a more organic and powerful expression. I prefer creating on a larger scale to feel like I, myself, am inside the painting .
I have studied art at Escuela de Bellas Artes, Lima, Peru; St. Petersburg College, St.Petersburg, Florida and the Art Center of St. Petersburg, Florida.
I have shown my artwork at multiple galleries in the Tampa Bay area such as Covivant Art Gallery and the Avant Garde group with The Tampa Museum of Art. I have also created the first Art Therapy Rehabilitation program implemented at The Florida D.O.C where inmates and incarcerated artists are able to express themselves trough paintings. Politics, emotions, society, and the nature of the subconscious continue to be major themes in my work.
I use many different mediums, such as oils, acrylics, enamel paint and many other mixed medium. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style on my paintings.
Nature and the subconscious play a very strong influence in my paintings as well as everyday events and experiences on my life, shape my abstract art.
